The Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality & Productivity (SLAAQP) will hold the ‘National Convention on 5S’ on 5 November at the Auditorium od PIM (Postgraduate Institute of Management), 28, Lesley Ranagala Mawatha, Colombo 8, from 9 a.m. onwards under the patronage of Chief Guest Deputy Minister of Public Enterprise Development Eran Wickramaratne.
The event is organised as a contribution of the Association to the improvement of Sri Lanka’s competitiveness, improving quality and productivity on a national scale which will deliver many benefits including better quality and higher reliability, improving competitiveness, reducing costs of production and services, thereby reducing the cost of living, and improving service quality. In many countries including Japan voluntary and non-governmental organisations similar to the SLAAQP have made important contribution to the development of quality and productivity.
Nine award winners from different sectors will showcase how they implemented the Japanese techniques of 5S and thereby improving productivity, quality, customer service, safety delivery and worker morale. These experts will demonstrate how they used innovative methods to implement and how they overcame obstacles in implementing 5S with pictorial examples and what benefits they have obtained.
