SLFBC welcomes new French Economic Counsellor to SL

The Sri Lanka–France Business Council (SLFBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently organised a reception welcoming the new French Economic Counsellor to Sri Lanka, Hugues Reydet. The Sri Lanka–France Business Council (SLFBC) was inaugurated on 4 February 2004 with the primary objective of promoting trade, tourism, investment and services between Sri Lanka and France. New French Economic Counsellor to Sri Lanka, Hugues Reydet (left) with French Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Jean-Paul Monchau   Alstom President Dilipan Tyagrajah is the current President of the SLFBC and welcoming Reydet, he spoke briefly of how the Frenchman had predominantly worked as an economic counsellor and been assigned to Asia several times over the past few years. Some of Reydet’s previous postings were in China, Bangkok and Pakistan as well as countries such as Brazil and UK. He was appointed economic counsellor at the French Embassy in Colombo since the beginning of September 2014. Addressing the gathering, Reydet conveyed his pleasure at being back in Asia, a region which greatly interests him. He further highlighted how he looks forward to working with the Business Council and assisting the Sri Lankan and French business communities in terms of accentuating trade and other commercial activity between France and Sri Lanka In his address, Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Jean-Paul Monchau expressed very positive views on the country’s economic growth, social development and conducive atmosphere for investment which creates ample opportunities for both nations to promote business relationships. The networking evening was attended by over 65 members and dignitaries. It proved to be the idyllic opportunity, not only for the council members but the business community and other embassy officials to interrelate and extend a courteous welcome to the Economic Counsellor.
