SLIM equips library with latest marketing publications

Students of marketing are immensely benefitted with the expansion of the library of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) through book donations received recently. These are equally beneficial to the SLIM members who are keen on continuing their professional studies.

Recent donations amounting to over four hundred latest titles were handed over by two institutions – the Asia Foundation and Survey Research Lanka. These have enriched the SLIM Philip Kotler library as well as the SLIM Kandy library.

SLIM Prof. Philip Kotler library is now further strengthened by the latest sales and marketing books given by Survey Research Lanka (SRL). The donation has helped to enhance the SLIM library readership, particularly among those interested in research thesis in marketing.

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SLIM and SRL for a research partnership, SRL took the initiative to enhance its contribution to SLIM by strengthening the library. SRL Chairman, Professor Sudatta Ranasinghe and SLIM President,  Thushara Perera were the signatories to the MOU.

SLIM President Thushara Perera sharing his thoughts on the event said that the donation of books to the Philip Kottler Library at SLIM not only strengthens the ties between Asia Foundation, SRL and SLIM but also adds value to the SLIM students and the marketing fraternity who have access to SLIM library.

At a simple ceremony held at SLIM head office, Asia Foundation Director – Books Program, Anton D Nallathamby handed over the books to SLIM CEO/ED, Sanath Senanayake. Among them were over 200 latest sales and marketing books and journals which reached SLIM through Asia Foundation’s ‘Books for Asia’ program.

Handing over the books, Mr Nallathamby said that they were pleased to partner SLIM to support the growth of professional education in Sri Lanka by strengthening the SLIM Library.

Thanking the Asia Foundation, SLIM CEO Sanath Senanayake said that it has been possible to update the SLIM library with the new arrivals thereby adding value to SLIM students.

As the national institute of marketing in Sri Lanka, SLIM has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing in the country since 1970. SLIM always embark on projects that will help marketing students and professionals to improve and enhance their knowledge base.

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) was founded in 1970 and subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1980. SLIM is a member of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries ( FCCISL) and Industry of Sri Lanka and the Federation of Marketing Research Industries (ESOMAR). SLIM also serves as an active member of the Board of Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) which is represented by seventeen member countries. AMF is dedicated to establishing marketing as a driving force in the country in harnessing available marketing skills for the growth of and development of the profession.
