SLIM was presented with an award at NBEA 2014 held recently at Hilton Hotel Colombo for excellence in a number of diverse areas such as leadership, corporate governance, capacity building, performance management, local and global market reach, corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability and business and financial results.
SLIM has won awards at every edition of NBEA since 2011 and this record can be attributed to the Institute’s success in achieving and maintaining excellence in business and setting new benchmarks for the industry whilst contributing to the economic progress of the nation.
SLIM President Kalana Rathnayaka spoke about the significance of having been awarded four years in succession: “Being recognised for four consecutive years on a prestigious national platform such as NBEA is testament to the consistent performance and unwavering commitment of SLIM towards its mission of developing marketing in Sri Lanka. The Council of Management, Executive Committee and especially the staff at SLIM deserve all the credit for their tireless efforts which have made this possible.”
SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake commented on the importance of this award for SLIM: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award and to be recognised for our overall performance. The criteria of this award cover many of the areas that we attach great importance to and this is the ultimate validation that we have achieved standards of excellence in these areas.”
The National Business Excellence Awards is an annual award competition conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL). The main aim of the awards is to recognise business enterprises which have demonstrated excellence in business whilst contributing to the economic progress of the country. NBEA encourages enterprises to meet certain requirements and measure their performance against competitors.
SLIM is the National body for Marketing in Sri Lanka and has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing since 1970. It is a member of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). Internationally it is affiliated with ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries and is a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association.
