SLSBC meets Singapore Foreign Minister

The members of the committee of the Sri Lanka Singapore Business Council recently met with K. Shanmugam, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Law of Singapore. The meeting took place over lunch hosted in honour of the Minister and his delegation at the Colombo Club at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo 3. The discussion included a broad range of topics pertaining to business between Singapore and Sri Lanka. There has been renewed interest from Singapore companies to partner Sri Lankan companies across the areas of infrastructure, retail, education and the logistics sectors. There have been inward business missions led by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the past with IE Singapore recently accompanying Hyflux  of Singapore a leading global fully integrated water solutions company to meet with potential partners in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka-Singapore Business Council will lead a delegation of companies for the Singapore Business Federation organized Sri Lanka Seminar in June this year which is expected to be well attended by members of the SBF. The Singapore Business Federation is Singapore’s apex and largest business chamber with over 16,000 members. The delegation is expected to engage in business networking sessions with member companies of leading chambers in Singapore. In 2012, the Minister visited Sri Lanka accompanied by a high powered business delegation of 21 members coordinated by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) to meet their Sri Lankan counterparts at a well attended Business Forum organized by the SLSBC. Amongst the major Singapore investors in Sri Lanka are Prima, Overseas Realty with an investment of over $ 650 million and Keppel Land.
