SLSBC to lead high-powered trade and investment delegation to Singapore

The Sri Lanka-Singapore Business Council (SLSBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will be organising a trade and investment promotion mission to Singapore from 8-10 May 2013.



The mission is organised to coincide with the IE-SBF Seminar on Business Opportunities in Sri Lanka followed by one-to-one business meetings that will be organised by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), supported by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and in association with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore.

SBF is the Apex Business Chamber in Singapore with over 18,000 members and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore is the Government Agency driving Singapore’s external economy and promoting the overseas growth of Singapore-based enterprises and international trade.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore, High Commissioner, H. E. Ferial Ashraff and Minister Commercial Ananda Dharmapriya, have been a significant support in organising the Mission.

The 17-member delegation will be led by Spear International (Pvt) Ltd. Chairman/Managing Director, SLSBC President Shamil Mendis. The delegation will comprise of A. Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd. Director Agri Input Janaka Gunasekera, Blue Ocean Venture (Pvt) Ltd. Managing Director Prajeeth Balasubramaniam, Daya Gamage Chairman and Daya Group (Pvt) Ltd. Director Chamindra Gamage, Eastern Maritime (Colombo) Ltd. Managing Director Sriyal Dissanayake, Forbes and Walker Fine Foods (Pvt) Ltd. Director U. C. Bandaranayake, Just In Time Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. Consultant Romeish de Mel, MAC Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. Chairman/Managing Director Andre Fernando, Microcells (Pvt) Ltd. General Manager Marketing and Sales, Kanishka Samaraweera, Orion Development (Pvt) Ltd. CEO/Director Jeevan Gnanam and Business Development Manager Hariharan Padmanaban, Prudential Shipping Lines (Pvt) Ltd. and Helanka Vacations (Pvt) Ltd. Managing Director H. J. R. Mendis, S. S. Impex (Pvt) Ltd. Managing Director A. Samson C. de Silva, Sunshine Holdings PLC Group Managing Director Vish Govindasamy and Tellida (Pvt) Ltd. Director and CEO, Omar Fatha Rally.

The visit is coordinated by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Manager Satheeka Kavisekera.  

The delegation will be representing a diverse set of industries including agriculture, apparel and textiles, automotive products and accessories, aviation, BPO/KPO, coir based products, contact centre services, chemicals, commodity trading, fertiliser, freight forwarding, geo-textiles, hotel management, ICT, logistics infrastructure, micro-finance, pharmaceutical and healthcare services, rubber matting, shipping agencies, tea, tourism, transfer of technologies, telecommunications and venture capital.

In addition to the IE-SBF seminar and business meetings which will be attended by over 100 Singapore companies, the delegation will have the opportunity to participate at a series of meetings with the senior officials and members of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  The Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore will host the delegates for a networking session with the members of the Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA) during the mission.
