Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the integrated telecommunication solutions provider announced its role as the Strategic Partner of the 2011 CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit. Greg Young, Chief Executive Officer of SLT handed over the sponsorship cheque to Bradley Emerson, Regional Director — South Asia & Middle East, CIMA, at an official ceremony held at the SLT premises recently.

The CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit is an annual conference organised by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Sri Lanka Division, a much looked forward to event in Sri Lanka’s corporate calendar. This year’s summit, under the theme of “Changing Challenge – Challenging Change” will be held at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo on 21 and 22 June. It will comprise presentations from renowned local and global personalities, and will encourage business leaders and professionals to challenge their own changes which they have made in the recent past, though innovative as they maybe, in the light of the dynamic changes occurring in today’s market.

“The great challenges of yesterday seem like tiny ant hills today, in light of today’s newer and more demanding challenges. Change itself is inevitable and there’s no place to run or hide from it. Furthermore, the diverse challenges brought about by change are ever evolving, revolutionising industry and businesses and the way business is conducted,” said Greg Young, CEO of SLT, giving his comments on the conference theme. “Gone are the days when you can celebrate and relax with your feet up in the air after the successful implementation of one change cycle. Today’s ultra-dynamic markets insist on challenging the very changes that we have made in the recent past, and doing this on a continuous basis in order to stay ahead and survive”.

Giving his comments on the significance of SLT’s association with the CIMA, he added, “Sri Lanka Telecom has been a long standing partner of the CIMA Sri Lanka Division, supporting their endeavours to empower professionalism within the management accountancy profession in Sri Lanka. This is because we feel that the professional community in Sri Lanka is a very important segment that has to be continuously nurtured and strengthened in order to raise standards and expedite development of our country. As such, empowering professionalism continues to be one of SLT’s main corporate social responsibility initiatives.”
