SLT to ring ‘Ridee Reyak’ on 14 Jan.

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) and SLT Mobitel are the proud sponsors of the highly popular annual show ‘Ridee Reyak’. In its ninth successful year, ‘Ridee Reyak’ features popular movie and teledrama stars re-enacting popular cinema songs and clips from famous movies.

This year’s show is tipped to be the biggest and grandest event to be held at the newly-unveiled world-class Lotus Pond Mahinda Rajapaksha Theatre on 14 January 2012 at 7 p.m.

The decision to sponsor this widely watched show reflects SLT’s commitment to bring the people of the nation closer together.

By sponsoring this show, SLT and Mobitel demonstrate their commitment to the empowerment of the cinema industry and to the realm of arts and culture in Sri Lanka.

This year’s two-and-a-half-hour ‘Ridee Reyak’ extravaganza will feature popular stars such as Malini Fonseka, Ravindra Randeniya, Jeewan Kumaratunga, Robin Fernando, Rex Kodippili, Cleetus Mendis, Sriyani Amarasena, Veena Jayakody, Sabitha Perera, Sangeetha Weeraratne, Dilhani Ekanayake Ranjan Ramanayake, Mahendra Perera, Veena Jayakody, Kanchana Mendis, Suraj Mapa,  Kusum Renu, Chathurika Peiris, Anarkali Akarsha, Sachini Ayendra, Manjula Kumari, Anusha Damayanthi, Nilanthi Dias, Upeksha Swarnamali, Paboda Sandeepani, Channa Perera, Roshan Pilapitiya, Pubudu Chathuranga, Saranga Disasekara and Roshan Ranawana amongst others.

In addition to the stellar cast, the show is choreographed by the internationally acclaimed maestro, Channa Wijewardene who has been the chorographer from the inception of Ridee Reyak and scripted by the famous song writer, Nilar N. Cassim.

‘Ridee Reyak’ has gained immense popularity and achieved cult status as a show where the best of Sri Lanka’s talent comes together on a common platform to present a veritable feast for the senses, for the audience.

The show was conceptualised as a means to raise funds for the Cine Star Foundation, comprising of 310 members, and towards the wellbeing and medical insurance scheme of its members.
