SMS Holdings Shehan Senevirathne wins Platinum at Sri Lankan Entrepreneur Awards

Shehan Senevirathne of SMS Holdings has won the Platinum Award in the national level, extra-large category at the 21st Annual Sri Lankan Entrepreneur Awards Conducted by the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka.

Senevirathne engaged in business in 2001 after getting his diploma in Production and Business Management and gaining experience at Hayleys Group of Companies in positions from Operation Officer to Senior Production Executive. He started working for SMS in 2001 and is now the Chairman Managing Director for SMS Holdings Ltd., SMS Plantation and Leisure Ltd., The Greenery Company Ltd., and Black Diamond Security Services Ltd.

He is a member of the Institute for Construction Training and Development (ICTAD), The National Construction Association of Sri Lanka (NCASL), The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI), The Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE), and Ceylon Institute of Builders.

Senevirathne’s membership in these professional bodies helped him to climb the ladder.

Now he serves his country as the Chairman of Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd., Chairman of the Steering Committee Association and President of OVAL - Toastmaster.

Some of his achievements and innovations include six awards for Best Product Award at the Sri Lanka Institute Of Architects Annual Sessions, the Gold Award and Crystal Award at the CNCI Achiever of Industrial Excellence Awards and the International Diamond Prize for Excellence in Quality 2015 in Vienna, Austria organised by the European Society for Quality Research. He has also won the Most Promising Entrepreneurship Award at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneur 2012 and 2014, conducted by Enterprise Asia.

His innovations include, introducing paving products for blind people, guiding tile, timber deck and concrete sleepers and grass paving.
