Sophisticated CT scanner opens at Nawaloka Hospital

Nawaloka Hospital a pioneering healthcare service provider installed the most sophisticated CT scanner, the first of its kind in a hospital in South Asia. The CT scanner machine was unveiled by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday (30) at the Nawaloka Hospital.
The CT scanner is a product of the Toshiba Institute of Japan.
The very first Cardiac Angiogram in the island was performed after unveiling the machine and it was witnessed by the President.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Minister Maithripala Sirisena said that the Government has allocated a colossal sum of 157 billion rupees for the year 2014, which no other Government has allocated before.
The Minister further said that the Government will receive 18 billion rupees additionally as grants and loan assistance for construction in the health sector. The Minister also appreciated the contribution from the private sector to government’s target of making the nation healthy by improving the health service in the country.
A memento was handed over to President Rajapaksa appreciating the services he has discharged to the health service.
Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Chairman of the Nawaloka Hospital Jayantha Dharmadasa and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Toshiba Satohsi Sinakawa were among those present on the occasion.
