South Korea to assist Sri Lanka in finance, industries, security and employment sectors

A high level delegation from South Korea has assured Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena that they would provide assistance to Sri Lanka in several fields including finance, internal security, small and medium industries and employment.

They made this assurance when they called on the President at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday (21 September).

The President thanked them for their interest in Sri Lanka and the offer to provide assistance for the development of Sri Lanka.

The delegation included Korea Federation of Small and Medium Industries (KBIZ) Vice Chairman Joo dae-chull, Fine Technics Chairman Scott Hong, Global Supersector Leader Director Ilhwan Park and Kuntoung Corporation Chairman Hyung Soo Lee.

They said that Korean Exim Bank could provide finance for selected joint projects in Sri Lanka. They discussed the possibility of installation of internal security system, LED street lights at low cost and several development projects. They also agreed to provide employment to 5,000 Sri Lankan youths in Korea.

President Sirisena advised Ministers Felix Perera and Faizer Mustafa, who attended the meeting, to conduct further discussions with the Korean delegation regarding the proposed projects.
