Ease of aid for development will be the new strategy in developing relationship with the US Government by the Government of Sri Lanka, said Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
Karunanayake expressed his thanks to the US Government for restoring the GSP+ facility to Sri Lanka soon after the new Government came in to office.
Karunanayake made these remarks when the US Acting Ambassador to Sri Lanka Andrew Mann paid a courtesy call on him at his office recently.
The Minister told the Ambassador that Sri Lanka solicits the US assistance for a vibrant economic partnership instead of economic aid. He also said that Sri Lanka looks for a threefold increase in its exports to US markets.
Mann said that US was very keen to expand the economic partnership with the Government of Sri Lanka especially under the new Government, where democracy and rule of law have been restored.
