The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will organise the ‘Sri Lanka Investment and Business Conclave 2017’ from 30 May to 1 June in Colombo to attract much-needed foreign direct investors to Sri Lanka, business partners for exports and imports and also to promote tourism, in a bid to help propel the nation’s economic growth to greater heights.
The event, which will be held under the theme ‘Growth through partnerships’, will focus on bringing investments into the areas of agriculture, apparel, education, export manufacturing, export services, infrastructure, knowledge services, tourism and leisure, power and energy, telecommunications and related services, ports development, distribution of petroleum-related products such as LPG and LNG and recycling of waste.
The two-day event, to be held at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo, will provide potential foreign investors with an overall outlook of Sri Lanka’s investment climate and also make room for establishing links with both local and foreign investors taking part in the event.
The Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, the Department of Commerce, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), International Trade Centre, Geneva, World Chambers Network, Beijing Lansing Overlook International Exhibition Ltd. and JETRO Colombo are facilitating the Chamber to make the event a success.
Sri Lanka’s diplomatic missions located overseas and the 127 Chambers of Commerce which the Ceylon Chamber has partnerships with are also putting their weight behind promoting the conclave worldwide. The inaugural business conclave held last year was a highly successful event and attracted 127 foreign participants from 25 countries.
