Sri Lanka-Korea Economic Co-operation Committee holds 19th Annual General Meeting

The 19th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka-Korea Economic Co-operation Committee was held on 26 July 2013 at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The Council is one of the business councils that function under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce which focuses promoting investment, trade and joint venture between Sri Lanka and Korea. Mahen Kariyawasan, Chairman/Managing Director, Andrew The Travel Company, was elected to continue as the President of the Council for 2013/2014. He mentioned that the incoming committee would encourage more joint ventures between Sri Lanka and Korea, exchange information on trade and investment, conduct joint meetings with Korean business organisations in Sri Lanka and Korea and will serve as a recognised representative of the business sector interests in Sri Lanka. John Shiran Dissanayake, CEO, Transmarine, and Priyantha Mendis, Managing Director, Alpha Tours, were appointed as Vice Presidents respectively. The following committee members were elected on to the Committee of the Sri Lanka-Korea Economic Co-operation Committee: K. Kunendran, Deputy GM – Market Support, Abans, Navindra Abeysekera, General Manager, Delmege Forsyth &Co., Godwin Perera, Managing Director, Vaughan Chemicals, S.C. Byun, CEO, South Lighting Lanka, Mahesh Pasqual, Chairman/Managing Director, Isuru Engineering, Ananda Sirisekera, Director, Rannara Engineering, Chamara Udugama, CEO, Southern Tea Producers and Shamil Mendis, Chairman/ Managing Director, Spear International. “We wish to strengthen our membership by inviting potential companies to join the Sri Lanka-Korea Economic Co-operation Committee” said Kariyawsan. Membership of the Council is open to individual persons, partnerships, companies, corporations or other organisations engaged in trade, tourism or services with Korea or engaged in joint ventures with Korean organisations or interested in entering into or promoting trade, tourism, services or joint ventures with Korean organisations.
