Sri Lanka-Russia Business Council discusses progress of recent business visit to Russia

01The Sri Lanka-Russia Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organised a get-together recently to discuss the progress made during the recent visit the council members made to Russia, as a part of the Presidential delegation to Russia.

Sri Lankan Ambassador in Russia Dr. Saman Weerasinghe took part as the Chief Guest of the event, while Russian Ambassador in Sri Lanka Alexander Karchava took part as the Guest of Honour. During the event, discussions revolved around the progress made during the recent Russian visit, and how they can further strengthen the business relationship with the Russian business community.  

Karchava speaking during the occasion appreciated the council for organising events of this nature, which helps bilateral business progress. 

Sri Lanka-Russia Business Council (SLRBC) President Isuru Samarasinghe, thanked Dr. Weerasinghe for helping to organise the business delegation to Moscow. He also thanked him for giving the opportunity to members of the SLRBC to hold bilateral meetings with the members of the Chamber of Commerce of Industry of the Russian Federation and for the assistance rendered during the mission. 

The two SLRBC Vice Presidents, Priyantha Hapuarachchi (Chief Financial Officer of South Asia Textile Industries Lanka) and Buddhapriya Ramanayake (Director of Mos Lanka Investments) also were among the invitees. 

SLRBC Executive Committee members Nimal S. Cooke (Executive Director of Maharaja Organisation – Projects), Shamindi Kumarasinghe (Manager Exports of Nature’s Beauty Creations) and Erandi Ponnamperuma (Manager of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce) were also present during the event.

Among the guests were Harry Jayawardena, Chairman of Stassen Exports; Daya Weththasinghe, Chairman of Lanka Tractors; Mahen Kariyawasan, Managing Director of Andrew the Travel Company; Evgeniya Altukhova, Chief of Protocol Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka; Andre Fernando, Chairman of MAC Holdings; Hatim Abbasally, Director of Akbar Brothers; Shashi Ganeshan, Joint Managing Director of Built Element; Gamini Nanayakkarawasam, Joint Managing Director of Built Element; Jey Gnanam, Managing Director of Rhino Roofing Products; Jude Fernando, Director of Rhino Roofing Products; Gamini Abeywickrama, Chairman of Basilur Tea Exports; Dinesh Samaratunga, Managing Director of Megatrend Lanka; Ganesh Deivanayagam, Deputy Chairman of Eswaran Brothers; and Bilal Mohammed, Managing Director of Concord Exotic Voyages.
