A Sri Lankan delegation is visiting Belarus from 18 to 25 August, a spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing Thursday.

On 18 and 19 August, the Belarusian capital hosted the second meeting of the Belarusian-Sri Lankan intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation, the State-owned national news agency, BelTA reported.

“The parties will discuss matters related to the establishment of joint assembly plants in Sri Lanka, implementation of joint agricultural projects, and cooperation in pharmaceutics, medical education and tourism,” Mironchik said.

The delegation is expected to attend meetings at the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and also to visit OAO Amkodor and Minsk Tractor Works. On 22 August, the delegation will take part in the third round of consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Sri Lanka.

“The consultations will consider a wide range of current issues of bilateral relations, including regional cooperation and interaction in culture, education, healthcare, science and technologies. Special attention will be paid to the development of the legal framework of the relations and to the cooperation in international organisations,” Mironchik noted.
