Sri Lanka’s first-ever exclusive wallpaper and 3D wall tiles showroom was launched earlier this week, offering Sri Lankan customers an infinite array of new design options for their walls.

Kishani Kaluarachchi, Managing Director of Wall Art Ltd. said, “We are the only exclusive retailer of globally renowned brands of wallpaper in Sri Lanka. We offer over 1,000 designs of wallpaper from Europe and the US to suit any mood, taste or budget. We also provide other design options such as 3D tiles for walls, ideal for hotels, restaurants, bars, shopping malls, apartment complexes and homes.”

“Sri Lanka is a new and vibrant market for wallpaper and we are seeing keen interest in decorative products for walls. Painted finishes, although great in some spaces, don’t equate to the opulence a few rolls of wallpaper can provide. One can now create breathtaking spaces in their home or workplace by choosing from our extensive range of wallpaper. Customers can also try an ‘accent or feature wall’ to add a layer of sophistication to a room for a fraction of the cost,” Kaluarachchi added.

Currently used widely to jazz up interiors in the Western world, many Asian countries are now turning to wallpaper for multiple reasons. These include:

Easy installation: can be installed in a matter of hours on any type of wall including plastered brick walls, wooden or gypsum walls.

Less maintenance: painted surfaces usually require more maintenance as they need to be cleaned more often and may require repainting every two to three years.

Longer lifespan: wallpaper generally has a lifespan of between eight to 10 years.

Washable: can be cleaned using a sponge and soapy water.

Better colour fastness: wallpaper retains its original colour.

Covers imperfections: covers hairline cracks on walls that paint is incapable of doing.

Fire retardant: wallpaper will not catch fire and spread flames.

Unmatched look: improves the value of your house, apartment or office by adding character to your walls.

Strippable: non-woven wallpaper is easily strippable and leaves no residue when removed.

“Wall Art has a team of skilled installers trained overseas who are capable of wallpapering a room in four to six hours. All our adhesives are imported from Europe to ensure that the highest standards are maintained. A bonus is that we offer free full installation services with all purchases of wallpaper,” she went on to say.

These eco-friendly wallpapers are manufactured from material that emits no aerosols or lead. When installed in air-conditioned rooms, Wall Art’s vinyl range of wallpaper does not allow the external transfer of cool air. This permits one to switch off the air conditioner sooner, since the room retains the cool air. Due to this, it is estimated that a household can save up to seven per cent on air-conditioning bills. Some ranges of wallpaper are made from wood from sustainably managed forests. In fact most importantly, all these wallpapers are recyclable.

Additionally, Wall Art Ltd. is the first and exclusive distributor of 3D wall tiles in Sri Lanka. “We offer over 18 designs to match specific tastes. Our 20”x 20” 3D tiles can be used to create unique walls at home, in apartment complexes, hotels, casinos, restaurants, night clubs, or offices. They are lightweight and durable and also extremely easy to install. Made from pure plant fibre material, they are eco-friendly, sound absorbent and provide thermal insulation. Tiles are available in white and can be painted over in any colour to match your interiors,” Kaluarachchi concluded.
