Srilal elected as Fellow of Institute of Hospitality

Srilal Miththapala, a senior tourism professional, has been elected a Fellow of Institute of Hospitality, United Kingdom, the foremost professional body in the field of hospitality, leisure and tourism, which has been in existence since 1930s.



A qualified Chartered Electrical Engineer, Miththapala has over 30 years of experience in senior management positions and Directorates in the mercantile sector as well as in the tourism industry.

He served in several senior capacities with the Confifi Group for 14 years, and then as Director/CEO of Serendib Leisure Management Limited for 10 years. He is the Immediate Past President of the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, and has also served on numerous national tourism institutions and committees.

He has serious interests in wild life and environment, and has been actively promoting Sri Lanka as an environmentally sustainable tourism destination.

He is currently attached to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, as the Project Director of the EU-funded SWITCH-Asia Greening Sri Lanka Hotels Project, and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of LAUGFS Leisure Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of LAUGFS Gas PLC.
