Switch Asia Program – Greening Sri Lanka Project Project Director Srilal Miththapala, a senior tourism professional and also a serious wild life enthusiastic will speak at the monthly meeting of The Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC) on 22 May on the subject ‘Elephant as an icon for Sri Lanka tourism’.

Miththapala has been giving presentations and talking on the subject of elephants, as well as tourism, but this will be the first time that he will be combing the two in one interesting topic.

The talk will aim to analyse the importance of the elephant as an icon for Sri Lanka tourism, as the island portrays itself as a sustainable tourism destination where Sri Lanka’s rich natural resources in wildlife are beginning to play an important role in marketing the destination.

It will also show how our hotels are moving towards inculcating sustainable consumption practices into their operations.
