SriLankan Airlines in its unbending mission to maintain the highest standards as the trademark national carrier has renewed its registration under the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) for the years 2013-2014, in conformity with standards introduced by the IATA to maintain aviation safety and quality.
IOSA assess the airline on eight operational scopes for safety, quality and ISAGO level of conformity as a ground handling service provider at Bandaranaike International Airport Colombo Sri Lanka. The audit is conducted by IATA accredited audit organisation and ISAGO pool members’ auditors, in accordance with the IOSA and ISAGO program manuals, and the standards that are published in IOSA and ISAGO standard manuals. Even though the assessment mainly focuses on operational areas, it also includes accountability of organisational management functions relevant to aviation safety.
The IATA IOSA program is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. Every IATA member is subject to assessment every 24 months prior to re-registration. All IATA members are IOSA registered and must remain registered to maintain IATA membership. SriLankan Airlines first attained the IOSA operator status in 2006 and ISAGO in 2008 and has retained the registry since then.
