Stamp to commemorate Ceylon Chamber of Commerce’s 175th anniversary

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, which marked 175 years of its service to the nation and businesses yesterday, 25 March, issued a commemorative stamp and a first day cover to mark the occasion. The issue took place at the Chamber premises at Navam Mawatha last morning at 10:30 a.m. with the participation of Deputy Postmaster General (Western Province) Chitra Gunasekera and CCC Chairman Suresh Shah along with several other distinguished personalities, including the Past Chairmen of the institution. The first stamp and the cover were handed over to the former CCC Chairman Deshamanya C. P. de Silva by Gunansekera. De Silva was the Chairman of the Chamber from 1977 to 1979. The commemorative stamp issued is a ‘personalised stamp’ and the third such stamp to be issued during the year by the Department of Posts, Sri Lanka. Earlier in the day, CCC held a multi-religious ceremony to markthe occasion, attended by CCC stakeholders.
