‘Step by Step – A Battle Against Cancer’ will be held on Saturday 17 August from 07:30 p.m. onwards at Park Street Mews, Stables. Tickets can be purchased at Aashkii on Maitland Crescent, Colombo 7.
Done by the 2013 batch of Summer Interns as their CSR project, it is a ‘Mixed arts performance and fundraiser auction’ to raise funds for the much needed paediatric cancer ward at the Jaffna General Hospital in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. The event will showcase the best of fashion by Hameedias, Jai by Aashkii, Lolani Rodrigo, Dilly & Carlo, and Amilani Perera and will feature entertainment by Rajitha of Misty and more.
The MAS Holdings, Deutsche Bank, Dialog Axiata and 3M, Summer Internship Program for 2013 is celebrating its 10th year. An initiative started in 2004 under the patronage of MAS Holdings Chairman Deshamanya Mahesh Amalean, has grown in leaps and bounds with Deutsche Bank partnering in 2005 and Dialog Axiata partnering in 2007. This year, 3M Lanka, joined the program as a partner, enabling the undergraduates to get an overall experience in four renowned corporates in the country.
This year the program attracted over eight thousand applicants from which only 21 interns were selected. The internship program is designed to give an overall overview of the opportunities available in the corporate world. The seven week program includes an experience-based training, competency building workshops, familiarisation to the four companies, meetings with distinguished corporate heads, industry-related projects and a CSR initiative to raise money for a worthy cause.
