Super luxury M.V. Majestic Princess makes maiden call at Port of Colombo

M.V. Majestic Princess, the newest sister ship of Royal Princess and Regal Princess, made its maiden call at the Port of Colombo yesterday. 

The brand new super luxury passenger vessel was launched on 4 April this year. In order to mark its maiden call at the Port of Colombo, a plaque exchange was held on board the vessel between Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Chairman Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake and the ship’s master Craig Stewart Street.

Mohideen are present

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Dissanayake expressed his gratitude to the captain of the vessel and its staff for placing their confidence in Sri Lanka and the Port of Colombo. “When a passenger vessel calls at the island it not only helps create wealth and economic activity but more importantly it also helps create employment,” Dr. Dissanayake said. 

Majestic Princess offers the Princess experience and signature favourites its visitors have always loved, plus exciting new features with a Chinese flair. The vessel is also the first ship in the fleet to feature a brand new Seawitch livery design at its bow with hair flowing toward the stern. It will also be the third in the line’s Royal Class, alongside Royal Princess and Regal Princess. The 3,560-passenger ship will be customised for the Chinese market and will also share many similarities with its sister ships.

The vessel, which marked its inaugural cruise on 4 April 2017, can carry 3,560 guests and has a crew of 1,346 on board. The ship is 1,083 feet in length, 224 feet in height, 126 feet in breadth and has 19 decks and 1,780 guest cabins.

Mohideen, Additional General Manager Mohan Perera, Operations Manager Prakash Fernando and Senior Executive Roshan Fernando also attended the plaque exchange to mark the maiden call of the vessel at the Port of Colombo.
