Swarna Wellappili appointed to SLT Board

Experienced public official Swarna Pushpa Wellappili has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Sri Lanka Telecom to fill the casual vacancy created by the resignation of D. Widanagamachchi.

Wellappili is currently the Director General of Department of Public Finance in the Ministry of Finance and Planning and has over 30 years of experience in the public service.

She is also an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka

She is a member of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Jaffna, a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Colombo.  She also holds a certificate in Public Administration and a Diploma in Marketing Management with a distinction from the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration.

Widanagamachchi was appointed to the Board on 5 July 2010 and is a senior public servant with over 30 years of experience at various public institutions. He was the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
