Adding another highlight to the country’s goal of becoming a regional shipping and logistics hub, Swire Shipping will hold its Regional Conference on 20 and 21 February 2014 in Sri Lanka.
Attending this ‘Indian Subcontinent and Middle East Agents Conference’ will be Swire Shipping’s agents from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Middle East and Sri Lanka as well as senior Swire Shipping management staff from its regional office in Mumbai and its Singapore headquarters. Swire Shipping’s general agent in Sri Lanka, Clarion Shipping Ltd. will be represented at the conference by a high ranking senior executive team.
The conference themed ‘Converting Vision to Action’ reflects Swire Shipping’s ambition to increase its presence in South Asia and Middle East and will see attending delegates provide their input and contribution on strengthening the Swire Shipping brand and its services in the region.
Speaking on the choice of Colombo as the conference venue, Swire Shipping’s South Asia and Middle East Head, Nithin Menon said, “Sri Lanka was a natural location for us to hold this conference for a number of reasons, not the least being its strategic importance in the region from a maritime standpoint.” On his aspirations for the conference, Menon hoped that the two day meeting would help plot the roadmap to enhance the Swire Shipping footprint in Sri Lanka and other locations in the sub-continent and Middle East.
