Symposium on French expertise in urban development on 4 July

The Sri Lanka France Business Council (SLFBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in association with the Economic Service of the French Embassy in Colombo will be organising a Symposium on French Expertise in Urban Development on 04 July at the BCIS Auditorium, BMICH.
The Symposium will be organised as part of the French Spring Festival in Sri Lanka. The objective of the Symposium is to provide an opportunity for local companies and implementing agencies engaged in Urban and Infrastructure Development to meet with strong French companies and share French know-how in different aspects of Urban Development.
France, being an uncontested forerunner in innovative urban development and built environment creation with long established technological dominance in large scale infrastructure projects, time tested traditions of urban planning and commitment to sustainable development has a lot to share with implementing agencies in Sri Lanka. The French offer represents the best value for money, guaranteed high performance and durability supported by dedication to ensure client satisfaction.
The Symposium will be addressed by Senior Officials of the National Physical Planning Department and Urban Development Authority. The French Development Agency (AFD) and Investment and Promotions Company for Economic Cooperation (PROPARCO) will make presentations on their worldwide experience in Urban Development and project financing instruments.
The following 10 major French companies will be present at the Symposium: Alstom Transport: Global leader in very high speed trains and number two worldwide in urban transport. One in every four of the world’s metro trains and one in three of the world’s tramways are supplied by Alstom.
Credit Agricole CIB: Corporate and Investment Banking arm of the Crédit Agricole group. In Sri Lanka, Crédit Agricole is financing the rehabilitation and extension of New Laxapana and Wimalasurendra hydro power plants.
DTP Terrassement: A 100% subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, DTP Terrassement is an earthmoving expert, specialising in mechanical earthworks, large scale infrastructure works: roads, motorways, high-speed train lines, drainage projects, canals, dams and airports civil works.
