Tanmay Agarwal new MD at CEAT Kelani

CEAT Kelani International Tyres (Pvt.) Ltd., has announced the appointment of Tanmay Agarwal as Managing Director and CEO of the company. He succeeds N.C. Venugopal. A mechanical engineer and postgraduate in management, Agarwal comes with 20 years of rich experience in some well-known multinational companies in India.



Announcing his appointment, CEAT Kelani Holdings Chairman Chanaka de Silva said: “Tanmay Agarwal’s multifaceted professional experience in operations, sales, finance and supply chain in global MNCs will be invaluable to CEAT Kelani, especially since the business is on the threshold of a new phase of expansion. His arrival will further strengthen the management team and sharpen focus on our route map for growth.”

A gold medallist in Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical) from Regional Engineering College in India, Agarwal was Vice President – Global Operations (Consumer Goods and Retail) at a GE Group company – Genpact prior to his appointment at CEAT Kelani.  

In this capacity he managed a host of large global clients in the consumer goods and retail industry. He also worked for Unilever in India for 15 years and in his last role at Unilever was deputed as the CFO at Kimberly-Clark Lever Ltd., a 50-50 JV between Unilever and Kimberly-Clark.  

Commenting on his new appointment, Agarwal said: “CEAT Kelani Holdings is a leader in its segment and CEAT is the single highest selling tyre brand in Sri Lanka. We make available in Sri Lanka international quality tyres at competitive prices.
