Tea crop up 12% in April

Reuters: April tea production rose 11.8% from a year earlier, extending the rise for the fifth straight month due to favourable weather, data from the State-run Tea Board showed on Thursday.

The output of Sri Lanka’s top agricultural export commodity has risen 9.6% in the first four months of this year, compared with the same period last year. Tea is one of the main foreign currency earners for the country’s $ 59 billion economy.
