Ten Best Corporate Citizens and five best CSR projects will receive top honours at the Best Corporate Citizen Award 2011 to be held on 4 November at the Cinnamon Grand.  Chief Guest of the event will be Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka while the keynote address will be delivered by, former Cabinet Minister Suresh Prabhu of India who has been ranked: ‘one of the top three Indian leaders of the future’ by Asiaweek Magazine and ‘the second best performing Minister in India’ by India Today.

The Best Cor-porate Citizen Award is the only corporate honour in the country that evaluates all aspects of a business, such as governance and economic contribution, community relations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), employee relations, customer and supplier relations as well as environment.

Thus, the winners are evaluated for their overall performance. From this year, the Award will also incorporate areas in the Global Reporting Initiative, which were not covered in the previous years.  An independent evaluation panel and a panel of judges have evaluated all applications as per a pre determined marking scheme to select the award winners. The finalists are selected through stringent criteria and the shortlisted applicants were required to make a brief presentation and also face an interview.

Five best CSR projects will also be awarded at the event while all projects that have achieved a high standard will receive certificates of merit.

The winners will be announced at the ceremony this Friday.

The awards night is open not only for the applicants but also for past winners, companies/enterprises and entrepreneurs who are interested in Sustainable Business and CSR and also for those who wish to apply for awards in the future.
