Three new independent directors appointed to Hayleys Board

Diversified blue chip Hayleys Plc yesterday announced the appointment of three new independent non executive directors with effect from June 30.

The trio are Lalin Samarawickrama, Ranil Pathirana and M.D.S. Goonatilleke.

Samarawi-ckrama serves as the Managing Director of Amaya Leisure PLC. He is an internationally Qualified Hotelier having gained most of his Management experience in the UK, working for large international hotel chains over a long period of time. First Sri Lankan Manager to be appointed by the Beaufort International chain of Hotels to manage first seaside boutique resort in the island. 

He is a Member of the Institute of Hospitality UK (formerly HCIMA) and of the Royal Society of Health, London. He counts over 38 years experience in the trade. 

Having specialised in Hotel design, he has been responsible for the careful planning and execution of Amaya Resorts & Spa’s refurbishment and rehabilitation programme. He is also a Director of the Fortress Resorts PLC. Hunas Falls PLC, Hotel Services (Ceylon) PLC, Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC and Kelani Valley Plantations PLC.

Pathirana currently serves as the Group Finance Director of Hirdaramani group and as a Director of Soft Logic Finance PLC. 

He served as the CEO of Vanik Corporate Services, Asset Management and Vanik Bangladesh Securities. Mr. Pathirana counts 22 years experience in Finance and Management. 

He holds a degree in B Commerce (Special) from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura and a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK (FCMA)

Goonatilleke is a Financial Professional with over 25 years post qualification experience. 

He has held senior managerial positions in leading Public, Multinational and Private Companies during his career. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants (U.K.). 

He is a passed finalist of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Sri Lanka). Mr. Goonatilleke holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from PIM of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura as well.

 He currently serves as a Group Executive Director of DSL Group of Companies. 

Goonatilleke also serves as an independent Director of Colombo Land Development Company PLC, Pan Asia Bank, Royal Ceramic PLC and Vallibel Finance Ltd.
