One of Sri Lanka’s largest sanitary-ware and ceramic importers TPS International ltd recently opened undoubtedly the largest warehouse complex related to the construction industry at Horana, with much pomp and pageantry. This increases the total warehousing capacity to an unprecedented 232,800 square feet, which is one of the largest warehouse capacities of its kind in Sri Lanka.
TPS International Central Warehouse Complex situated along the Horana - Ratnapura Road was ceremoniously opened on 8 October 2016 by Chief Guest Commercial Bank Of Ceylon PLC Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer S. Renganathan in the presence of a host of distinguished invitees.
“As a subsidiary of Puwakaramba Group of Companies (PGC), TPS International focuses much attention on giving the best quality products for our customers and as such we have state-of-the-art warehouses in Mount Lavinia, Katubedda, Habarana and Suwarapola (Piliyandala). In conjunction with our 30th anniversary, we added two more warehouses to our Regional Warehouse Complex in Habarana last year. Our latest Central Warehouse Complex has added 75,000 square feet to our warehousing capacity, equipping PGC with the largest warehouse capacity of its kind in Sri Lanka. We will continue to invest in logistics and warehousing in order to give a better service to our customers,” Puwakaramba Group of Companies (PGC) Marketing Director Praveen Fernando said delivering the welcome address.

“Puwakaramba Agencies which started as a small retail hardware shop on 7 November 1985 with just two employees has grown to over 550 employees today. The Group has grown to five subsidiaries, namely Puwakaramba Agencies, TPS International, PGC Marketing, Metro Auto Mart and PA Manufacturers. Handling a staggering import capacity of 475 – 500 containers per month, a fleet of 78 lorries and a combined warehouse capacity of 232,800 square feet, we have created history for establishing the largest warehouse capacity in Sri Lanka in the construction trade.”
Several top bankers in the country led by Sampath Bank PLC Former Managing Director Aravinda Perera, Sampath Bank PLC Managing Director Nanda Fernando, Hatton National Bank Chief Operating Officer Dilshan Rodrigo, NDB Corporate Banking Department Assistant Vice President Amal Yapa, Assistant General Manager Corporate Banking and SME Cargills Bank Limited Palan Rajanathan, Chief Manager Zone 1 Union Bank of Colombo PLC Naveendran Anthonypillai, Regional Manager DFCC Bank PLC Anton Arumugam, Area Manager Subs I Zone I Seylan Bank PLC Chandana Gurusinghe along with Batticaloa and Ampara Deputy Inspector General of Police Wimal Jagodaarachchi were also in attendance.
“With the Government introducing a ban on asbestos, we have commenced negotiations about a new partnership that would enable the production and the distribution of ground-breaking, asbestos-free sheet products in Sri Lanka. With all our growth plans materialising, we are on a steady path to become one of the top 100 companies in Sri Lanka by 2020,” added Dr. Laksiri Peiris.
Recognising the backbone of the group three customers representing main communities who were felicitated at the event were Manamperi Group Matara Managing Director Upali Manampari, Ascent International Trade ltd Director Pragash Soosaipillai and Choice Ceramics Chairman M. N. M. Naushad. PGC overseas partners from China, Thailand and India were also present.
Delivering the vote of thanks PGC Director Venura Wickramasinghe thanked all customers and stakeholders who helped in no measure mean to make the ‘Puwakaramba Group’ a household name in Sri Lanka.
