Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board delegation due next week

The executive members of the Turkey Sri Lanka Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK- Dış Ekonomik İlişkiler Kurulu) of Turkey is expected to visit Sri Lanka from 8 to 11 May to sign a MoU with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce to facilitate trade, investment and tourism between the two countries, and to explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.

The delegation is also expected to meet with Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce and Co-Chairman, Sri Lanka-Turkey Joint Economic Commission, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Rauff Hakeem, Minister of City Planning and Water Supply and President, Sri Lanka-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Association, the Chairman of the BOI Upul Jayasuriya and other senior officials. The delegation will also attend B2B meetings with members of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The delegation represents a number of leading companies based in Turkey and their key areas of interest include aluminium, cement, plastics, tea, textile, and tourism sectors.

The Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey is responsible for leading foreign economic relations of the Turkish private sector in a variety of sectors, particularly foreign trade, international investment and services, international construction activities and logistics, exploring inward and outward investment opportunities as well as increasing the export volume of Turkish business and coordinating similar business development activities.
