The weekly tea auction saw all-time record prices for two tea grades both sold by John Keells tea brokers, the company said in a statement yesterday.
The Galpaditenne tea factory, situated in Lellopitiya in Ratnapura, established an all-time record price at the weekly tea auction of 12 October by securing an attractive price of Rs. 480 per kg for an OF grade in the Low Grown CTC category.
This line was purchased by KDU Exports.
Suduwelipothahena CTC teas are keenly sought-after by a range of reputed tea exporters for their consistent leaf appearance and liquoring characteristics.
The proprietor of the Galpaditenne tea factory is Saman Upasena and the sale was conducted by tea broker John Keells Plc.
In addition, the Halpewatte tea factory managed by Uva Halpewatte Estate Ltd. situated in Hela Halpe, Bandarawela established an all-time record price of Rs. 740 per kg at the weekly tea auction concluded on 13 October for an Uva Medium BOP SP grade. This line of tea was purchased by Imperial Teas Ltd.The sale was conducted by tea broker John Keells Plc.
