UNDP’s Asia Pacific Chief holds discussions with Secretary, Treasury

Haoliang Xu, the visiting UN Assistant Secretary-General and Director and UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific met with Dr. P.B. Jayasundara, Secretary to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance and Planning and Secretary, Ministry of Economic Development, and discussed Sri Lanka’s development priorities in relation to macro-economic planning. He commended the Secretary for his leadership role during the preparation of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2013-2017, and for the Government’s full ownership of the framework. Making note of the forthcoming National Human Development Report (NHDR) 2014 on Youth and Development, Xu expressed hope that the Report will serve as a strong advocacy tool for promoting youth empowerment and human development in Sri Lanka.
