Unilever Sri Lanka’s ‘Lanka Sathosa Idam Nidanaya’ ends with epic land giveaway

Unilever Sri Lanka concluded its ‘Sathosa Idam Nidanaya’ campaign recently with an awards ceremony held at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. 

The epic campaign has changed the lives of three lucky grand prize winners – S.D.L. Kongahawatta, N. Pushparani Dharmasena, and D. Neranjan Kumara – as each walked away with a premium 10 perch plot of land, while 500 consolation winners were given Sathosa vouchers.

The ceremony was attended by Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Trade and Commerce; Indika Ranathunga, Director, Ministry of Trade and Commerce;  Sharmila Bandara, Marketing Director (Personal Care), Unilever Sri Lanka; and Dr. Rohantha Athukorala, Chairman, Lanka Sathosa.

It gives me great pleasure to handover these deeds that will have a powerful positive impact on the lives of the winners. I commend Unilever Sri Lanka for choosing Lanka Sathosa for this pioneering promotion,” said Bathiudeen.

Unilever Sri Lanka partnered with Lanka Sathosa, the nation’s largest state-owned retail network, to pioneer this life changing land sale promotion across the island. The campaign which lasted from 1 to 31 June, saw scores of people sending in entries. Winners were chosen from a raffle draw. To be eligible to enter the draw, shoppers had to purchase Unilever nominated brands Laojee, Vim, Surf and Sunsilk and send in the filled coupon.

Lanka Sathosa is the largest state owned retail network in the country. The Government has plans to expand the 321 strong Sathosa network to 500 outlets by 2017 and live to the vision ‘ Be the price setter to the nation’. 

Athukorala stated: “The turnaround of the company to cross Rs. 21 billion is due to the strategy we pursue of strong private-public-people partnership in action in our daily work. This work ethic also ensures sustainability in the long term. Sri Lanka will see many such unique PPP initiatives this year.”
