UAG makes every effort to educate the general public on road rules/regulations and create safer roads, thereby enhancing the level of safety amongst rural communities. According to statistics via the Sri Lanka Police, surges in the number of deaths resulting from road accidents have been reportedin recent times. In order to minimise these occurrences UAG along with the Sri Lanka Police and the National Council for Road Safety have been conducting numerous road safety awareness programs targeting schools in the areas of Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, etc.

School children, bus drivers, van drivers and motorbike drivers are among the key stakeholders to whom the programs have been targeted at. With over 500 students and school/bus drivers participating in these programs at each location UAG has sustained the creation of a positive impact island-wide.

Similarly, special programs continue to be conducted for school traffic wardens where students are being awarded traffic warden vests and issued a certificate by the Sri Lanka Police, endorsing them as official school traffic wardens. As of today more than 13,000 students have participated in these programs and 2,871 have been awarded traffic warden vests.

Acquiring a majority stake of 78%, Fairfax Asia Ltd is expected to bring in a wealth of knowledge and experience into the UAG operations. Anchored by a vibrant team of highly experienced professionals, a strong capital base and now a global partner, UAG is set to excel within the industry.

Union Assurance General’s expressed goal of trust creation is based on their overall ethos of building and delivering transparency, respectfulness and convenience to all its stakeholders.
