Union Bank of Colombo PLC (UBC) and The Management Club (TMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) appointing Union Bank as a principal financial sponsor of the TMC, thereby forging a strategic partnership between the two institutions.
The exchanging of the MOU took place on 5 November 2013 at the Union Bank Head office between TMC’s key representatives – Board of Management President Deepal Abeysekera, Management Club President Emeritus Fayaz Saleem and Union Bank Director/Chief Executive Officer Anil Amarasuriya.
Speaking at the event, Anil Amarasuriya stated, “We are pleased to partner The Management Club to support their initiatives. Through this partnership we hope to add value and also provide support and empowerment to its members to uplift management practices.”
Fayaz Saleem, TMC’s co-founder expressed delight that a reputed bank such as Union Bank was joining the complement of TMC’s sponsors. Deepal Abeysekera stated that he anticipated that the partnership would strengthen ties between the bank and TMC members to the benefit of both parties through certain plans of TMC.
The Management Club was established in 2002 on the initiative of the Sri Lanka branch of the Chartered Management Institute, UK with the primary intention of providing professional managers in Sri Lanka an opportunity to meet, interact and share experiences and knowledge. TMC works in three principal areas – Knowledge Development, Management Development and Social Development.
