Unipower honoured at National Agribusiness Awards 2014

Unipower Ltd., Sri Lanka’s leader of the speciality agri input business for the last 25 years once again proved their excellence when they received special appreciation for their contribution towards the development of modern agri technology in large category in Sri Lanka at the National Agribusiness Awards 2014 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) recently. National Agribusiness Awards 2014 was held concurrently with the Ag-Biz & Profood Trade fair at BMICH and was sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, organised by the National Agribusiness Council for the ninth consecutive year. Unipower, which was solely established by Jayantha Rajapakse in 1988 with his extensive knowledge and 38 years of experience in agri business intending to cater quality agri inputs to Sri Lankan agriculture, has done an immense service to the well-being of Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector. Unipower is also the most renowned name for speciality fertiliser and high end agri inputs as they have been carrying the flag of being the market leader being a dynamic marketing team who are equipped with world class products, strong distribution network and expertise to serve the countries agricultural needs. Unipower represents about ten globally trusted power brands at present such as Yara – Norway, Everris – The Netherlands, Growmore – USA, Farmco-chem – Malaysia, Ginegar –Israel, Goizper – Spain, etc and the market leader for speciality fertilisers and agricultural shade nettings. With Unipower offering these world class products and services to the development of the country’s agri sector, they are the deserving winners for the award. The awards were sector based and were grouped into small, medium and large categories, while the awards were also segmented into areas such as, input suppliers, services, producers, processors, and marketers. The selection for this year’s National Agribusiness Awards was based on business overview, financial management, human resource management, social impact and sector specific performance. The awards were aimed at recognising the performance and contribution made by the formal business sector towards the development of agribusiness in Sri Lanka and the applications were evaluated by a competent panel of agriculturalists, accountants, and marketing consultants, coming from the private and the public sectors.
