USHA trademark counterfeiters plead guilty

Upon successfully executing the search warrants through the area police, a large number of counterfeit USHA fans were seized by the police.

Jay Engineering Works Limited, India, the registered trademark owner of USHA fans in Sri Lanka, filed several cases in the Magistrates Courts of Colombo against several parties for selling counterfeit USHA fans.

Sequent to the search warrants by the police launched raids and seized the counterfeit USHA fans. The cases were filed by Sudath Perera Associates, the legal representatives for USHA in Sri Lanka.

Pursuant to the accused pleading guilty, the Magistrate ordered fine to be paid by the accused in each case and also costs to be paid to the Plaintiff.

Thereafter, by court order, the counterfeit fans seized by the police at the execution of the search warrants were destroyed in the presence of the trademark owners and the Registrar of Court.
