New construction machines that have never been displayed at a public event in Sri Lanka and a pre-used construction equipment auction will be among the exciting new value additions to this year’s edition of the ‘Construct’ exhibition by UTE.

In its third consecutive year as the main sponsor of the ‘Construction Machinery and Equipment’ show and fourth year of participation at the ‘Construct’ exhibition, Sri Lanka’s sole authorised Caterpillar representative has also taken several steps to enhance awareness of its products and services at its stall, which attracted large crowds last year.

Construct 2011 is scheduled to be held from 19 to 21 August 2011 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Exhibition Centre at the BMICH complex.

“The introduction of a pre-used construction equipment auction supports the changing needs of our customers and developments in the country,” GM-UTE Riyad Ismail said.

New machines on display at the UTE stall will include the 336D hydraulic excavator, which was introduced to the country in the latter part of last year and the 120K motor grader. The UTE stall, one of the largest at the exhibition, will also feature D4 type dozers, the signature machine type synonymous with the Caterpillar brand in the country. Pre-used dozers will be on display in the pre-used machinery section, for which a separate area has been designated.

UTE has dedicated the entire E-block of the exhibition venue to give customers an in-depth awareness of its product support options. Seminars on parts, services and customer support and training with regard to welding and construction equipment, will be conducted on a daily basis, the company said.

Representatives of Caterpillar are also scheduled to make presentations and visitors to the UTE stall will have an opportunity to interact with them.

Alongside its sponsorship of the ‘Construct’ exhibition, the company has taken several measures to strengthen its operations, with focus on improvement of customer convenience and operational efficiency.

The company is in the process of upgrading its Service Workshop to meet globally stipulated standards by Caterpillar and plans to achieve a ‘Caterpillar 3 star rating’ within the year. UTE has already achieved this rating for its parts warehouse in Wattala. The company’s head office at Wattala is also undergoing major refurbishment.

United Tractor & Equipment (Private) Ltd. (UTE) has been the sole authorised dealer for Caterpillar earthmoving equipment, power generators and forklift trucks in Sri Lanka since 1947.
