Vellai Oya Estate sets up all time high Colombo tea auction price

At the tea auctions concluded this week, two invoices of Vellai Oya BOPF achieved an all time Colombo tea auction record price of Rs. 570 per kilogram for the Western Medium category.
This new all time high record price bettered the existing record of Rs. 560 which also established by Vellai Oya only the previous week. The teas were sold amidst much competition, with one invoice sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd. and the other through another firm of brokers. The teas were purchased by Imperial Teas Ltd., a leading buyer at the Colombo tea auctions.
Vellai Oya estate is managed by Watawala Plantations PLC and is now a well established Western garden mark, receiving regular support from buyers for the UK, Russia and South Africa.
