Venora International wins ‘Best Enterprise’ award

Making remarkable progress since their inception in 2003, Venora International Projects Pvt. Ltd., an electrical engineering company celebrated their 10th year anniversary grandly at Cinnamon Lakeside on Tuesday (30) after winning the third international award for the ‘Best Enterprise’ at the Business Leaders Summit held from 10 April to 12 April this year at the British Institute of Directors (IoD) in UK.



At the same event, Venora International Chairman and Managing Director Deshamanya Sagara Gunawardana won the ‘Best Manager of the Year’ award.

Venora International also became the first Sri Lankan company in accordance with the UK Trade Marks Act 1994 and EBA Awards regulations to have the Licence which enables the company to use the Trade Mark ‘Best Enterprise’ for marketing purposes.

The ‘Best Enterprise’ award was given to Venora after several factors were looked into such as investment attraction, high technologies, quality, staff professional level and modern management methods.

Speaking to the Daily FT, Gunawardana shared his thoughts on winning the third international award: “I am really happy. As a Sri Lankan company, I am happy that we have focused on construction. I am happy for the country as well that Venora has won this award.”

In the past, Venora International has received the global award for perfection, quality and ideal performance at the convention on Total Quality Customer Satisfaction (TQCS). The company has also won the gold award for ‘Quality and Technology’ at the Arch of Europe ceremony last year.

Gunawardena also shared his secret on winning such awards in a period of 10 years: “We always go for the quality and cater to our clients needs very well.”

He revealed that the company started back in 2003 with only Rs. 500,000. Today, the company’s turnover as stated by Gunawardena is estimated around Rs. 400 to 500 million with a 100% to 120% growth over the years. He further revealed that Venora has many plans for the future. Speaking on their plans, he stated, “We have plans to go for more services. We are currently trying to improve our capacity with a Singaporean collaboration to do more high skilled projects. We also want to cater to the upmarket as well.”

Venora International has completed many electrical projects for well known companies such as Citrus Hikkaduwa, Avani Kalutara, Cinnamon Bey, Kandalama Hotel just to name a few. They have also provided electrical solutions to the Kettarama Stadium and Kandy Hotel School.

The company has also successfully completed a major electrical installation in the tea industry at the Andaradeniya Hills Tea Factory, Nandana Tea Factory, Lenama Hills Tea Factory and Matuwagala Tea Factory. Venora has completed many other projects in other sectors such as commercial, industrial, health, leisure, sports and communication which gained them national success. Venora International is one of the leading companies in the field of electrical engineering and telecommunication in Sri Lanka, operating under the theme of ‘Solution Providers for an Energised World’. The company has several wings of operation such as projects, switchboard fabrication, telecom infrastructure installations, earthing, lightning and surge protection and power factor correction.
