Verazo to develop apparel industry in Sri Lanka

First apparel manufacturing factory of Verazo Apparel Exports Ltd was officially opened last Wednesday 18 June in Kahagolla, Bandarawela providing employment for over 600 people in the Uva Province. It’s a fully equipped apparel manufacturing factory built in an area of 25,720 sq. ft. Its major market is UK and the principal customers are Dunns, Matalan and Morison. Its product range includes ladies wear and children wear. Verazo Apparel Exports Ltd Chairman Dr. Arosha Fernando said, “We have embarked on an aggressive plan to develop the apparel industry in Sri Lanka which will provide many employment opportunities to the rural sector and at the same time significantly increase our foreign exchange revenue. We will be opening our second factory in Dambadeniya, Alawwa on Monday 23 June which is again the major market is UK with the principal customers Disney, Walmart, Asda, Chile and Intimissimi.” “Together Bandarawela and Alawwa, it will employ over 1,200 people giving a new life to Uva and Wayamba Provinces. The company has plans to open further factories in North and South as well with an aim to provide employment of over 3,000 people,” Dr. Arosha concluded.
