MTD Walkers PLC invited MTI Consulting to develop their strategic plan for 2020 and this has reached the final stages of the exercise. The Colombo-based infrastructure company undertook this exercise to achieve greater heights in line with Sri Lanka’s economic development path. The past few months have involved numerous workshops, site visits and one to one sessions with a cross section of people in the company from the managing director to the CEOs, functional staff, GMs, DGMs and the front line workers; all of which gave MTI an intimate insight to the various businesses which acted as the foundation to developing the strategic plan for the company. There was a methodology to this exercise which was dictated by MTI’s 8S model, a robust framework that has been used in over 25 countries, across diverse industries. It helped make sure that each element in the company was addressed and strategies were developed for each keeping in mind the internal insights gained and the external market research conducted. Speaking at the recently concluded strategic planning session, MTD Walkers PLC Group Executive Deputy Chairman Jehan Amaratunga said, “The exercise with MTI has been effective in working towards restructuring the Group to support our strategic vision. The purpose of this strategy exercise is to harness synergies within the group through this immense growth period, maximising stakeholder value, whilst diversifying revenue streams to sustain our performance going forward. To put this in context, over the last five years we have had 40% compound growth each year and hope to enhance this further. “We focus on development and training of all our staff and this exercise will help our company deliver results in a sustainable manner. MTI has provided a good framework and process whereby MTD Walkers management worked together to identify, debate and agree the next steps of action towards achieving our strategic vision. I must commend Hilmy on engaging our cross functional management team effectively during this strategic exercise.” “MTI having conducted several rounds of clinical workshops with MTD Walkers staff, is at the final stages of documentation. According to MTI practice, each of the strategic initiatives identified for each 8S is broken down into Stractions so that MTD Walkers PLC have mini actionable steps to work towards achieving its strategy. We aim to have the strategic plan for MTD Walkers PLC 2020 completed and unveiled by the end of December latest,” MTI Consulting CEO Cader said, in comments released by MTI to the media.
