‘WorkInSri Lanka: Asia’s Next Knowledge Hub’ inaugural Conference on 23 December 2013

WorkInSriLanka, a volunteer-led brain gain initiative project of SL2College that aims to position Sri Lanka as an attractive work destination, will hold its inaugural annual conference on 23 December, 2013 at Taj Samudra, Colombo.
The Work In Sri Lanka Conference 2013aims to bring together recent returnees, expats living in Sri Lanka, investors, and experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges in making Sri Lanka the worlds’ preferred work destination.
The conference will comprise of several discussion forums with government, public and private sector leaders and experts strategising to build a stronger brain gain platform for the country as well as the participation of the public and private sector creating a networking opportunity for companies and prospective candidates.
The conference is expected to create a platform for reverse migrants and expats already relocated or those looking to relocate to Sri Lanka, to find out more information or voice concerns on migration processes and policies.
WorkInSri Lanka (www.workinsrilanka.lk) was launched in May 2013, to provide information on relocation and connect users with a variety of key industry bodies within the country. The portal will also facilitate the sharing of industry specific information that would help expats and migrants make informed decisions on working in Sri Lanka.
The initiative was launched amidst the presence of key public sector officials, industry leaders, heads of international non-government organisations, representatives of all major industries, relevant government institutions and civil society experts, the WorkInSriLanka project seeks to advocate Sri Lanka as an attractive destination for highly skilled individuals and high calibre businesses. The immense enthusiasm, both externally and locally, for this initiative has demonstrated the need to build a comprehensive strategy for brain gain in Sri Lanka.
WorkInSriLanka is actively engaged in building partnerships with key industries in the country and has successfully signed MOUs with four partners thus far; namely, the Employers Federation of Ceylon, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, SLASSCOM, and the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics Sri Lanka.
WorkInSri Lanka continues to engage with other industry bodies to build partnerships. As WorkInSri Lanka is a volunteer initiative and welcomes any organisation that wishes to join its efforts.
