In 2012, Yamaha Music Centre celebrates the 90th anniversary of a successful and enduring journey as the pioneers to introduce the world renowned Yamaha musical instruments to Sri Lanka. Yamaha Music Centre has the distinction of being the second oldest authorised sole distributor of Yamaha products in the world.
In 1922 Mike Caderamanpulle (Senior), revolutionised the local music industry by setting up the first Yamaha showroom that allowed the local musicians to experience the world’s finest musical instruments in their home country.
Throughout the years Yamaha has reached many milestones including the importation of the first reed organ, harmonica, grand piano, acoustic guitar, phonograph player, hifi player, first laser player and many more initiatives. In 2002 Yamaha Music Centre introduced the Flagship DSP AX-1 9.1 home theater amplifier to the country and in 2007 the first white concert grand piano, a first of its kind to make a presence in South Asia which was imported to Sri Lanka.
The Yamaha Music Centre offers three main components in their product portfolio which are musical instruments, home audio equipment and professional audio equipment. The product range under musical instruments includes digital keyboards and synthesizers, which is a key product category that includes the popular PSR range.
The PSR series workstations are used by almost every solo keyboardist in the country; guitars from the next main category with a complete range of electric, acoustic, semi acoustic or bass guitar models on offer.
The Yamaha name is synonymous with pianos all over the world and is endorsed by musical legends such as Sir Elton John, Norah Jones and John Legend. Yamaha Music Centre markets Yamaha pianos as well. Yamaha Clavinova or digital pianos are popular with all age groups with a wide range of entertaining functions such as karaoke, internet downloads and learning features. The showroom also offers a variety of drums for local musicians.
The Yamaha Music Centre has offered home audio equipment in Sri Lanka for the past 30 years. Yamaha Home audio amplifiers are rated as the best in the industry and have been recognised for their standards with several awards to their name.
The entire range of Yamaha pro audio equipment is available in Sri Lanka and Yamaha Music Centre recently opened a special showroom area to display and demonstrate the capabilities of the legendary Yamaha digital mixers. This area is open to anyone who is interested in digital mixing to get hands on experience on the new range of products available.

Apart from bringing the best Japanese musical instruments to Sri Lanka, Yamaha Music Centre has also enable to uplift the local music industry and the youth through the Yamaha Music School which was established in 1980. The music school has produced over 20,000 students and currently has 750 students.
