Today’s economic challenges are largely a result of the yesterday’s economic decisions – made by several regimes
Ideally, these decisions should have been taken with the concurrence of the Country’s Civil Service and Technocrats
Instead these economic decisions have been made entirely at the whims and fancies of the Politicians, who are not qualified technocrats
In the process, the Civil Service has been turned into spectators, almost blindly following the instructions of the politicians. No checks and balances in place
India’s vibrant democracy, strong civil service and its impact on managing the country’s economy, should serve as a learning
