People are the most important asset in a country. Everything in a country belongs to the people. It is not for a selected few. Nothing can beat the people’s power. This was proved after the 95 days of struggle of the Aragalaya. This is history in the making.

There was turmoil, turbulence, conflict and conflagration in the last month. The President and the PM were given ample time for ceremonial exit but they were so greedy to hold on to their positions. The people cannot be taken for granted anymore. Family nepotism and family rule should end.

This revolution will go down in history. Two million people from all parts of the country showed the people’s power to change the tyrannical rule of the Rajapaksas. Those in power and those wanting to be in power should be cautious that the people in Sri Lanka will no longer tolerate corruption, tyranny and abuse of power. The patriotic people will now rise up to all wrongdoings and the people’s voice will be government’s voice.

This is a good lesson for all politicians in Asia who remain in power by bullying people and through dictatorship. 98% of the people in the country supported and welcomed this Revolution which is no lesser than the French Revolution. The business community supported this Aragalaya movement because a certain section of the working class and the people in general suffer. It directly affects the industries and the trading.

This country has had enough with the 32 months of corruption, dictatorship, abuse of power, theft of public wealth and family bandism. The people now look forward to transparent, good governance and to be governed by patriotic leaders.

Let’s look forward to a change in the system for the new generation, with whom nobody can mess.

A silent change of tyranny is the need of the hour.
