Win or lose is on your brains

An international reporter who has a large number of followers, tweets on 14 April 2022, “Colombo tonight’s is same as Premadasa stadium on a cricket world cup match night.”

True to the tweets, Sri Lankan brainy youth is on the road in an uninterrupted struggle on a historical scale.

Why does SL need international attention and support now and in the future? 60% or more goods are imported including fuel, gas, medicine and raw materials for industries. In a dollar crisis Sri Lanka is 100% dependent on friendly countries.

Why and who is handling India’s interest.

India is an instrumental factor as the entire West including USA, Europe and Middle East majorly depend on India when it comes to South East Asia relationships.

When there is a government which is very much aligned and supportive for the international strategic movements of the powerful neighbour, it’s very hard to find a single reason to support a youth struggle based on basic necessities and corruption. Both demands are not in the agendas of neighbouring countries.

Which cohort/fraction of struggle groups address the international relationships, at least with ambassadors of the powerful nations.

What’s our social media portion internationally?

Though local media and local social media is dominated by the youth struggle, international media including main media Al Jazeera, CNN, BBC and international social media, big twitter account holders did not pay sufficient attention that should have been paid to a friendly country and youth who are struggling for food, medicine, electricity and fuel.

Ukraine and Pakistan are good examples. Ukraine had the same situation at the beginning up to a level where President Zelensky blamed the West that had been left alone.

But how Ukraine changed the game plan of the West! Ukraine bombarded international social media with its full strength FB, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tik-tok, YouTube, events and even large sports chats related to soccer, basketball, cricket and many more. The West had to turn on half closed eyes to Ukraine when the public started to raise their voice for Ukraine.

Local youth’s struggle is already having the support of Sri Lankans living abroad. But the campaign is in need of a strategy to maximise social media efforts who are coming to protest, support from home or work place to bombard the international arena. Think tank analysts, social media experts are in need of now more than ever. If the campaigners could get Washington think tanks to give their two minutes to the motherland.

Tech savvy young brains on the struggle front are very well aware of the use of BOTs in many businesses where artificial intelligence acts as evangelists to create and multiply a single post, tweet or message. Basically BOTs disseminate social media posts, make it go viral. But that’s not a small operation.

Since the world’s attention is elsewhere, even Pakistan didn’t get sufficient attention.

Need of the hour is to consolidate social media efforts with a world-class strategic view and countries will support parties with public power. Public is local and international.

This write up is neither for good olden days’ politicians or colour-eyed helots.
