12 Division Troops Assist International ‘TB Day Walk’ at Hambantota

12 Division troops serving under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) at the request of the Hambantota District Tuberculosis (TB) Centre provided assistance to arrange the ‘TB Day Walk’ and a public awareness campaign recently in Hambantota.

District Office of NPTCCD (National Program for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases), Hambantota, sought the help of Major General Ralf Nugera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 12 Division for conduct of those programs.

Around 25 soldiers of the 12 Division Headquarters, 122 Brigade and 3 (V) Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) actively took part in the ‘TB Day Walk’.

NPTCCD (National Program for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases) is the central organization of the Ministry of Health, responsible for controlling and preventing TB and other respiratory diseases throughout Sri Lanka. The activities are carried out through network of chest clinics, established in each district.

The ‘National TB Day’ included, awareness programs for School Children, High Risk categories, Community and Health Care Workers, Screening Programs, TB Day Walk and Poster and Leaflet campaigns, etc.
